Receptionist – Part Time

Cheshire County Administration department is hiring a part-time Receptionist at the Nursing Home. Under the supervision of the Executive Assistant, the Receptionist is responsible for answering and dispatching telephone calls and welcoming Maplewood Nursing Home visitors.

Thursday         -7:30am-6:00pm

Friday              -7:30am-6:00pm (every other Friday 7:00-5:30 – Payroll Week)

Saturday          -8:00am-4:00pm – 3 Saturdays a month, 1 off

(includes some holidays)  

Job Functions – include but not limited to:

  • Answers and routes incoming telephone calls, taking messages, giving information, or directing calls to appropriate Nursing Home staff, as necessary.
  • Receives Maplewood Nursing Home visitors; directs them to the appropriate location.
  • Responds to general inquiries concerning Nursing Home activities and operations by following established policies and procedures.
  • Uses computer for interoffice communication via email, schedules, work orders.
  • Sorts mail and places in appropriate mailboxes; labels newspapers for residents.
  • Balances petty cash and stamp money; orders stamps as needed.
  • Types arm bands for residents with pertinent information.
  • Distributes keys for Nursing Home automobiles and logs name and length of use.
  • Photocopies materials for various departments; collates packets and handouts as requested.
  • Distributes paychecks to employees; accepts packages from various delivery services.
  • Performs other related duties as required, including tasks for other departments.

Skills/Experience/Training required:

  • Duties require knowledge of receptionist skills equivalent to completion of a high school diploma and up to one year of related experience, or equivalent combination of both.
  • Ability to operate telephone switchboard calmly, rapidly, and accurately.
  • Ability to use and operate office equipment including computer, typewriter, copier, and fax machine.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, residents, and the general public.
