MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN

Cheshire County Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to provide clinical services to inmates with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.  The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing clinical screening and assessment and psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic services (individual and group) for inmates. Collaborates with medical services staff in assessing the need for psychoactive medication and monitoring inmate response to prescribed medication

This position requires knowledge of substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment and best practices as well as an understanding of the criminal justice system and the ability to relate effectively with community referral sources and providers.

Candidates must have Master’s degree in counseling or clinical psychology, social work or related discipline, with experience in providing mental health and substance use disorder services; preferably within the criminal justice setting.
